Poetry Prompt Weekly: Stuck inside the In-between.
You're not dead, but you're not exactly alive either. It seems you've found yourself somewhere in-between, and you have a choice to make.
Note: This prompt has some heavy implications (like loss and possible death), but is open to interpretation. If you don’t feel comfortable with it, please don’t force yourself to write a poem.
This post also contains an ad for my Ko-Fi, but more on that later.
One moment you were on Earth, maybe spending time with loved ones, at work, or out doing something you enjoy. Then it all disappears— an incident sending you not yet to death, but outside of life for the moment. A place stuck somewhere in-between, and you have a choice to make. And only you know what you have to choose between. So, what will you do?
Welcome Back to Poetry Prompt Weekly!
Would you look at that, another week has come and gone. And this time we dove into the prompt before any introduction. Feels pretty insane, If I should say so. But our prompt contains some heavy themes, with lots to think about. So, I thought I’d dive into that part right away.
You’ll find my addition to the prompt later in this post, in fact after I’m done with this part. There’s also no extra challenge this week, so you can write however you like for this one.
Now like always, we’ll also do some shout-outs, and then include a poll at the end of the post. Make sure you participate in it, as it helps influence what next week’s prompt will be.
Lastly, please make sure to make your poem as a post on your SubStack, and then put a link to it in the designated thread in my subscriber chat. Thank you!
My Addition to this Week’s Prompt.
If you’d like to, you can use this piece as inspiration for your own post.

A Room I Know
White space, no light,
But no dark.
Floating somewhere,
Though I stand
As if I’m back home.
I step over to the wall,
And trace my fingers
Slowly over its skin.
White space, old dream,
But nothing else.
I know this place.
It’s a room I’ve seen
Too many times.
A door rests at the
Other side.
And every time before,
I’ve chosen to leave.
But this time something
Feels different.
I sit and cross my legs,
To ponder the space
Around my form.
To think of my life,
Considering the dreams
Which fell apart.
And just as I think
I’m ready to stay…
I lunge for the door
And leave.
Before we hop into our weekly shout-outs, let’s talk about Ko-Fi.
Yup, it’s ad time! I know I keep pushing these ad’s every week, but Ko-Fi is where I primarily sell my chapbook Inside the Sun and Moon. And you can also order poetry cards from me, or even commission me for a poem! In fact, until the end of April, I’ll be doing digital poetry commissions for just $5 each.
However, I only accept up to five commissions at a time, so if you want to get one, head on over ASAP. You can click the button below to check it all out!

Shout-outs from Last Week’s Poetry Prompt:
Every week I like to try and do some shout-outs from the last week’s prompt. Generally, I pick around three to go here. So even if yours doesn’t make it on the shout-out list, I still make sure to try and read each poem.
1. Morning Meditation by
A poem about choosing between saving the world, or savoring it. Maryellen brings about a sense of wisdom in this piece, which feels like a reminder that we shouldn’t let ourselves get burnt out.
Savoring the world and life is important, and we can’t save the world if we’re not taking care of ourselves. Thanks for sharing it, Maryellen!
2. ’s Entry to the Prompt.
Helena’s piece is one which brings parenthood into the mix of getting up in the morning. It can be daunting to get up each day— especially with so many stressful things going on.
However the day eventually turns into nights filled with homework, and the cycle of day-to-day life continues. Thanks for sharing, Helena!
3. Reflection of Realizations by .
I’m not religious myself, so this one doesn’t resonate with me much like the others. However I can appreciate Waxingibbous’ rhyming structure, and the impact this morning realizations piece may have on others. Thanks for sharing!
It’s time to wrap things up, but first, here’s your poll!
It’s time for our next poll. Like always, choose carefully as your choice impacts the outcome of next week’s prompt. Are you ready?
Great, thanks for reading all the way through this everyone! I can’t wait to see what you all come up with. Buh-bye for now!
Am thinking on This one
Thank you!
