Poetry Prompt Weekly: The Autumn Sunset.
A prompt which invites reflection and conversation. How will you write this one?
Autumn. A season which could be dubbed, “The Golden Season.” With it’s brown, orange, and gold leaves falling to the ground. Or the scent of fresh apple pie wafting through the air. It feels like a time of thanks, and a time of togetherness.
But imagine yourself sitting outside, perhaps in a clearing surrounded by a forest of golden leaves. Above the sun is setting, and a sense of thoughtfulness settles in the air. A moment to think, to reflect, and to contemplate. It’s time for a conversation with yourself.

Welcome to our final poetry prompt: Where I ask you to reflect and take in the Autumn breeze.
What was that, our final poetry prompt? My dear reader, yes. After some consideration, I have decided to shift focus from this Substack to my other ones. As such, I’m unfortunately ending our Poetry Prompt Weekly’s. You can read about that here.
Because of this, I wanted to do a prompt which felt fitting. Last week’s poll struck a tie between Spring and Autumn, but ultimately I chose the latter. Both can be about reflection, thoughtfulness, but there’s something so much more meaningful to me about Autumn.
And as a return to form, your optional challenge for this piece is to write a Sonnet. Below is my own, and you’ll be able to use it as an example.
A Shout-Out From Last Week’s Poetry Prompt.
Poetry Prompt Weekly: Becoming Lego.
The Lego Store feels like a magical place— from the moment you enter and take in the brickly vibes, to being to look at all those magnificent builds on display. It’s truly surreal, and perhaps this time, too magical.
In a unique narrative styled prompt, last week we explored the idea of becoming Lego. Unfortunately only one other person participated to my awareness. However that person is incredible though, and easily makes up for everything. Here is her poem:

Thanks everyone for being a part of these Poetry Prompt Weekly’s. I have never been the best at keeping up with them, but seeing each of your work has been amazing. And maybe in the future I’ll post more prompts, just not at a weekly consistency.
There is no poll this time to decide next week’s prompt. But this one below is just for fun. Vote in it, or don’t. Do whatever feels right to you.
And before I go— just know I’ll still do one more shout-out post after this. Gotta commemorate those who participate, you know. And then after that, I’ll just be posting stuff when I feel like it. Just no more trying to be a daily poster on this blog. Or trying to maintain some level of consistency.
I’m embracing my inconsistency here. And I think it’ll be exactly what I need.
Wow thanks for sharing Hazel! This was fn amazing. Reminds me of older British poetry! Something that resembles William Blake but with some modernity.
Lovely! My favorite season. 🍁
