Poem: The Torchbearer's Diminishment
A poem I wrote recently, that I thought I'd post here to share with you all.
Torchlight extends into the dark, With its hand held high in thought. The searcher feels eluded by the Rats scurrying deep in the sewage– Running from a voice seeking For another to meet its ear. Desperate for conversation, yet Unable to withstand the idea of Responding to another person’s word. Searching for connection, but Too forlorn to accept any effort. Torchlight fades into darkness, Smoke rising from the old flame's cone. The traveler on his knees in exhaust– Drifting through the cavern in Which holds his anguish for talk. Maybe it was a folly to expedite For something so jagged inside. But when your sanity becomes solitary, What can you do to appease it?
