twenty one pilots is a musical duo whose music I’ve been in love with for years, probably ever since early high-school. They’ve helped me through some of my depression and struggles with mental health. And they’re something I can listen to when I feel alone or need something comforting to hear.
That’s a little ironic since a lot of their music is about mental health and depression. But they make it feel comfortable and relatable, like I really am not alone.
So I wrote a poem about one of their songs— I wrote a song inspired by one of their songs. It’s called Oldies Station and the lead singer, Tyler, wrote it as a way to check in with the fans.
I think a lot of fans were disappointed by it when it came out, which is a bit sad because to me it feels so personal. It’s also a really gentle song, meant to sort of uplift and encourage you. It feels good, like a hug you desperately needed after a long day.
Anyway, here’s the poem:
Comfort Song
From the moment we met, To where are today, You’ve been a guide– You’ve been a comfort, Pushing me through the End of a stressful day. And from the moment I Heard your tune for the first time, Solace welled up in my heart. Your gentleness a desire of What I long to feel When everything gets hard. You talk of life, all the Experiences you’ve learned from– Each one shaping you like It has morphed me into Someone I want to be, Going at a steady pace. From the moment we met, You taught me how to carry Myself in a way so soothing. Showing me how to push forward, Even when everything has Changed since that moment. I’ll push on through.
And this poem is paired with the song I mentioned earlier, Oldies Station.
Thanks for taking the time to read this, and I hope you were able to find some comfort like I do out of this song. It feels nostalgic and sweet, like a reminder you’re doing your best. And I hope you know you’re doing great <3
See you next time, xoxo.
I love this poem, and I love the concept here even more! I'll have to think about a "comfort" song since I listen to a ton of music as someone that works from home. I may try my hand at a poem inspired by the lyrics of the song I pick!
I'll give you credit for the idea, of course. This a beautiful concept!
they were my fav too! I love this!!!
